1, Learn important camera skills.
Getting a camera is the most essential step in filmmaking. It doesn’t have to be a sophisticated one. You can use your phone camera as a start. There are apps like Filmic pro which allow you to get quality videos on your phone. It doesn’t matter what you use the quality 9f your video will be determined by your visual language skills and your understanding of how different elements tell a story.
2. Take a filmmaking class or course.
There are a lot of free online courses and books on the internet. Use these to your advantage and learn from people who have already started this journey. Watch and review movies before shooting your first videos. Analyze the works of others and learn from their mistakes, if any. Be inspired by others.
3. Shoot what you love:
If it doesn’t bring you joy, don’t shoot it. If you love music, shoot music videos or concerts. If you love traveling, capture the amazing trips you go on. You are going to spend a lot of time and energy learning and growing your craft, so it’s important to have fun while doing it.
